Historia... Que Historia?: algumas reflexões introdutórias à temática da história local e regional

Abstract

lecture given at the opening of a colloquium on local history, this article aims at questioning the meaning of historiography. It tries to analyse the innovations brought in by New History — as opposed to the paradigms of factual history and literary history — and seeks it to destroy its Myth and to call attention to the risk of its uncritical usage. It establishes a link between the movement of the Renewal of History — with old roots in Portugal too — and the role given to local History, and further, puts forward new approches leading to its reorganization in Portugal.
