Mosaicos romanos de Lisboa: I - a “baixa pombalina”

Abstract

À memória do Senhor Professor Bairrão Oleiro, cujo humanismo recordo com gratidão. Foi, apenas, no último quarto de século que em Lisboa se puseram a descoberto os primeiros pavimentos musivos in situ, bem como se descobriram abundantes fragmentos de mosaicos. A autora pretende, assim, com o presente estudo dar notícia e analisar exaustivamente os mosaicos romanos de Lisboa. Este primeiro artigo, dedicado à Baixa Pombalina” (mosaicos da Rua dos Correeiros e do Banco Comercial Português, cujas cronologias se circunscrevem ao século II e à segunda metade do III d.C.), será secundado por um outro, àcerca dos restantes vestígios musivos da capital.

In memory of Prof. Bairrão Oleiro whose humanistics ideals I will remember, with gratefulness, forever. The first pavements decorated with mosaics (and various others fragments) had been excavated in situ, during the last quarter of the last century, in Lisbon. The author introduces the reader, in this paper, to the study (first part) of her investigation on the Roman mosaics brought to light in Lisbon Down-Town (mosaics from the excavations at Rua dos Correeiros and Banco Comercial Português, with an attributed chronology to the 2nd century A. D. up to the middle of the third). A second paper will follow, in the future, with the results of the investigation on other mosaics from the Roman city of Lisbon.
