An early 19th century Spanish source reported about three Latin inscriptions standing at the Royal Artillery College, then housed in the famous Alcázar de Segovia. For unknown reasons, Htibner failed to register them in CIL and were recently rescued from oblivion by R. Knapp. This paper argues against the proposed local origin of the stones; instead, other data and the formulae strongly suggest some people teaching at the Military Academy carried them, probably from somewhere in Baetica or southern Lusitania. |
