O exército romano e o corpo humano na Primeira Carta de Clemente de Roma aos Coríntios: uma análise de 1Cle 37.1-38.1

Abstract

This article analyzes a passage from the First Letter of Clement of Rome to the Corinthians (1Cle 37.1 – 38.1), this excerpt in which the Roman army and the human body are used as sample order for readers of Corinth. To this end, our journey begins first with the literary analysis of 1Clement, showing issues of authorship, recipients, literary genre, and the structure of the letter. Then follow a historical-cultural analysis in which the letter was inserted, that is, the Roman Empire, Hellenism and information about the city to which the letter was addressed, the city of Corinth, just as Christians who lived in it. Then follows the study of the pericope itself, initially the first sentence that mentions the Roman army, then another passage that mentions the body image. Finally, the final considerations about the information contained in the article.

O presente artigo analisa um trecho da Primeira Carta de Clemente de Roma aos Coríntios (1Cle 37.1-38.1), trecho esse em que o exército romano e o corpo humano são usados como exemplo de ordem para os leitores de Corinto. Para tanto, nosso percurso começa com a análise literária de 1Clemente, mostrando questões de autoria, destinatários, gênero literário, bem como a estrutura da carta. Depois, segue uma análise do contexto histórico-cultural em que a carta estava inserida, ou seja, o Império Romano, o helenismo e informações sobre a cidade para a qual a carta foi endereçada, a cidade de Corinto, assim como os cristãos que viviam nela. Segue-se, então, o estudo da perícope propriamente dita, inicialmente, do primeiro trecho que menciona o exército romano e, depois, do trecho que menciona a imagem do corpo. Por fim, as considerações finais acerca das informações contidas no artigo.
