This is a description of the recent excavations of the Roman galleries beneath the building of the Machado de Castro Museum, at Coimbra, and of the subsequent finds. The cryptopoiticus, which might have served as a monumental podium to the forum of Aeminium, appears to be somewhat related to similar structures found at Aosta, Arles and Bavai, and also, in some respects, to the monument on the acropolis of Ferentino.eng
