O conceito de poesia na Grécia arcaica

Abstract

The author gives a short survey of the different views of poetry from Homer to the end of the archaic age, whereby it becomes clear that poets were believed to be divinely inspired from the earliest times and also that their songs, whether intended for pleasure or for teaching, were most often in perfect agreement with their city’s interests. Poetry is therefore hold to be responsible for the education of youth and its psychagogic value is sharply felt. Other ideas on the same art, like poetic éxtasis or the connection between poetry and painting are already to be found in the same age.
