Abstract: Em tempos de globalização, em que os sistemas educativos tendem para a uniformidade ao nível da decisão política, faz‑se a análise comparativa da organização curricular dos sistemas inglês e português, com a identificação de diferenças significativas – na progressão dos alunos, na oferta curricular, nos procedimentos de acesso ao ensino superior e na tipologia de escolas – apesar das similaridades existentes. A partir de uma abordagem comparativa de documentos estruturantes dos dois sistemas, conclui‑se que a centralização curricular é o denominador comum dos dois sistemas, se bem que no caso português se observe um controlo curricular mais explícito e complexo, deixando‑se em aberto algumas propostas de inovação curricular.
En temps de globalisation, où les systèmes éducatifs tendent à l’uniformité au niveau de la décision politique, on fait l’analyse comparative de l’organisation curriculaire des systèmes anglais et portugais, avec l’identification des différences significatives – dans la progression des élèves, dans l’offre curriculaire, dans les procédés d’accès à l’enseignement supérieur et dans la typologie des écoles – malgré les similitudes existantes. À partir d’un abordage comparatif de documents structurants des deux systèmes, on conclut que la centralisation curriculaire est le dénominateur commun aux deux systèmes, même si, dans le cas portugais, on observe un contrôle curriculaire plus explicite et complexe, en laissant quelques propositions d’innovation curriculaire.
In an era of globalisation in which educational systems tend towards homogeneity concerning political decision, we analyse the curricular organisation of the English and Portuguese systems comparatively by identifying significant differences – in school ages, curriculum subjects, higher education admission and types of schools – which go beyond all similarities. On the basis of a comparative approach to documents which determine the structure of both systems, the curricular centralisation is found to be the common denominator – even though the Portuguese system shows a more explicit and complex curricular control – and some proposals for curricular innovation are unravelled.
