This article examines the relationship between medicine and religion in ancient Greece, more specifically in the fifth and fourth centuries BCE, trying to justify the proposal that the Hippocratic treatises were interpreted according to the rationalism of the nineteenth century and should be reassessed. By doing so, has as its starting point the treatise On the Sacred Disease, following the hypothesis that the rationalism of the Hippocratic author is not an atheist nor a denial of traditional religion, neither claims a division of science and religion as it is known in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.eng
