Los marcadores discursivos y otros mecanismos de enlace de oraciones en el discurso

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to review the concept of discourse marker by relating it to other types of linguistic units which are not usually included in this class, but whose grammatical function is to connect sentences in discourse. In the first place, we show that, according to the usual definitions of discourse markers, it’s not possible to distinguish them from other syntactic elements, like coordinating and subordinating conjunctions. Next, we compare their syntactic functioning with the functioning of these other word classes. Finally, we bring our attention to other formal procedures to establish grammatical and discursive relations between sentences.

El objetivo de este trabajo es revisar el concepto de marcador discursivo poniéndolo en relación con otros tipos de unidades lingüísticas que, por lo general, no se incluyen en esta clase, pero que también tienen como cometido establecer relaciones entre oraciones en el discurso. En primer lugar, observamos que, ateniéndonos a la definición habitual de estos elementos, no es posible distinguirlos de otros elementos sintácticos, como las conjunciones coordinantes y subordinantes; a continuación, comparamos su comportamiento sintáctico con el de estas mismas clases de palabras; y, por último, mostramos otros mecanismos formales que también sirven para establecer relaciones entre oraciones.
