O Sonho de Luis Vives

Abstract

Dreams (somnia) are part of a long tradition, cultivated from the most ancient Antiquity, permeating the Middle Ages and extending to present day. We want to bring up and display a particular example of this oneiric genre, the “Dream” of Luis Vives, revisiting it as a clear cut example of long literary heritage we mentioned. In a humorous and playful tone this author’s youth work is already revealing the ideas and concerns of Valencian humanist, particularly with regard to education.

Os sonhos (somnia) fazem parte de uma extensa tradição cultivada desde a mais remota Antiguidade que perpassa pela Idade Média e se estende até à contemporaneidade. Pretendemos revisitar o Somnium de Luis Vives, relembrando um texto da juventude do autor, que se insere nesta longa herança literária e que, num tom jocoso e brincalhão, é já revelador de ideias e preocupações recorrentes na obra do humanista Valenciano, nomeadamente no que concerne à educação.
