Aspectos da mesa do rei entre a Idade Média e a Época Moderna

Abstract

This essay aims to underline the interdisciplinary character of the study of food. We will focuse on the elites, and analyse the king’s table as a place of social differentiation, symbolic distinction and political meaning. The king’s table was an instrument of power, since the relatively simple forms of the high Middle Ages to the more complex ones in the Modern times.

Este estudo procura perspectivar a alimentação como campo de estudos interdisciplinar. Situando‑nos num patamar social das elites e no momento de transição entre a Idade Média e a Época Moderna, iremos analisar a alimentação régia enquanto lugar de diferenciação social, distinção simbólica e portadora de significado político.
