Antígona entre muros, contra os muros de silêncio: mito e história na recriação metateatral de José Martín Elizondo

Abstract

Written in 1969, at Toulouse, during the exile of its author, José Martín Elizondo, Antigone inside the walls (Antígona entre muros) was only edited in 1988, when it was performed for the first time, in the Festival of Classical Theatre of Merida, winning the I International Prime “Roman Theatre of Merida”. In a permanent dialogue between the events during a day in prison, in Greece during the military government, with other ten political prisoners, and the discontinuous and fragmented representation of Sophocles’ Antigone, this exercise of metatheatrical style profits from all the rhetoric of protest of the Greek model. At the same time it is a cry of revolt against the walls of silence imposed by dictatorial regimes, would they be the Greek or the Spanish ones, and symbolizes the collective resistance of those who, in prison, in clandestinity or in exile, fight for freedom, against the authoritative and repressive policy of Franco’ s regime.

Escrita em 1969, em Toulouse, durante o exílio do seu autor, José Martín Elizondo, Antígona entre muros viria a ser publicada apenas em 1988, ano em que a peça teve a sua estreia, no Festival de Teatro Clássico de Mérida e em que recebeu o I Prémio Internacional «Teatro Romano de Mérida». Num diálogo permanente entre os acontecimentos de um dia numa cela da Grécia dos coronéis, partilhada por dez presas políticas, e a representação descontínua e fragmentada da Antígona de Sófocles, este exercício de escrita metateatral, aproveitando toda a retórica de protesto do arquétipo grego, é um grito de revolta contra os muros de silêncio impostos pelos regimes ditatoriais, sejam eles o grego ou o espanhol, e simboliza a resistência coletiva dos que, na cela, na clandestinidade ou no exílio, lutam pela liberdade, contra a política autoritária e repressiva do regime franquista.
