Considerações sobre a imagem satírica

Abstract

O texto trata da questão da imagem satírica na sua relação com os poderes espiritual e temporal. Quanto ao primeiro destes poderes, pretende realçar-se a polémica travada em torno da iconografia e da figuração do Divino, estabelecendo-se uma comparação entre as abordagens católica e protestante. Quanto à relação da imagem satírica com o poder temporal, o estudo pretende aperceber-se do processo de dessacralização política que lhe é inerente e dos mecanismos básicos inerentes à sátira caricatural.

The paper focuses on the issue of the satirical image and its connection with the spiritual and temporal powers. As for the spiritual power, the polemics involving the iconography and the representation of the Devine is highlighted, thus comparing the Catholic and the Protestant approaches. Regarding the relation between the satirical image and temporal power, the study attempts to interpret the underlying process of political desacralization and the elementary mechanisms underscoring satirical caricature.
