Title: | Hit Parade et subversion: la chanson française entre tradition et révolution dans les années 1960 et 1970 | Other Titles: | "Hit parade" e subversão: a canção francesa entre tradição e revolução nas décadas de 60 e 70 "Hit parade" and subversion: the French chanson between tradition and revolution in the 60s and 70s |
A canção, "género menor" segundo Serge Gainsbourg,
autocelebração do género. Could the French chanson be considered a reflection of the antagonisms, tensions and conflicts that characterized French society and culture in the 1960s and 70s? Would it be possible to find an opposition between revolutionary sensibilities and a fondness for tradition in a (provisional) corpus of songs of approximately sixty titles that are part of a context of conflict? This reflection aims to highlight the phenomenon of politicization and depoliticization of the chanson, at times called "intervention song" ("chanson engagée"), as well as the presence of conflicts of other kinds. The chanson, "a minor genre" according to Serge Gainsbourg, is capable of generating vast adherence and wide consensus. Therefore, the opposition between revolution and tradition is, to a large extent, surpassed by a self-celebration of the genre. |
