O melhor é a água: da antiguidade clássica aos nossos dias

Abstract

This volume aims to present multiple readings on the subject of water, from its concrete and material use to the symbolic, metaphorical and immaterial dimension: as primordial element associated with the creation of the world, source of life and death, space of leisure, element of rituals, way of communication or separation between the people, medium and sign of civilization and structuring element of the city. The sources used come from ancient philosophy, religion, poetry, dramaturgy, history and biography, archeology, both in antiquity and in the humanistic and contemporary reception.

Este volume propõe-se apresentar múltiplas leituras sobre o tema da água, desde a sua utilização concreta e material à dimensão simbólica, metafórica e imaterial: como elemento primordial associado à criação do mundo, fonte de vida e de morte, espaço de lazer, elemento constituinte de rituais, via de comunicação ou de separação entre as gentes, meio e sinal de civilização e elemento estruturante da cidade. As fontes usadas provêm da filosofia antiga, da religião, da poesia, da dramaturgia, da história e biografia, da arqueologia, tanto na antiguidade como na receção humanista e contemporânea.
