Abstract

A Igreja é uma realidade histórica, semper reformanda, ao serviço da incarnação do Espírito de Cristo na história humana. A história da Igreja Católica teve dificuldades em discernir o seu caminho no mundo moderno. Quando parecia que o tinha encontrado, no Concílio Vaticano II, deixou questões pastorais decisivas para depois do Concílio e perdeu o rumo acerca das reformas mais urgentes. Conseguiu resultados mediáticos espantosos, mas também sofreu perdas irreparáveis. O deserto teológico foi também o abandono de quem podia contribuir para uma reforma criadora. Os grandes meios de comunicação acabaram por fazer da Igreja a imagem dos escândalos financeiros e a cobertura da pedofilia eclesiástica. O Papa Francisco surgiu com um estilo, uma mensagem, um projeto e uma nova convocatória. Paradoxo: enquanto havia católicas e católicos para as reformas urgentes, estas foram impedidas; agora, que são propostas pelo próprio Papa Francisco, o terreno está ocupado e minado pelos seus adversários. Mas ele não desiste e reúne cada vez mais filhos da Esperança criadora!
